No mystery: Cribbs wins as Quinn starts

Children: "Daddy, what's for dinner tonight?"
Eric Mangini: "In terms of announcing it publicly, that's not something I plan to do."
Children: "But Daddy, we're hungry."
Mangini: "Well, kids, that's just something we'll keep internal."

Hey, it's not like Burger King has to prepare any more than the Minnesota Vikings do. But where does it end? Well, it kind of ended Wednesday, as the new Cleveland Browns coach couldn't make the mystery last until Sunday's kickoff: Brady Quinn is the starting quarterback. My immediate reaction from a fantasy aspect was similar to when I found out about what the Detroit Lions were doing. The veteran guy throws a better deep pass, but will turn the ball over and doesn't provide much upside. The kid can dink and dunk his way to a more ball-controlled offense, and while the deep-threat wide receiver might take a slight hit, overall this is going to be good for fantasy owners.

I wouldn't start Quinn in fantasy this week unless I was really desperate, and really, it's Week 1, so how desperate can anyone be? It's Week 1! Quinn is further along than Matthew Stafford -- then again, every starting NFL quarterback is -- but it's not like Quinn has played enough for us to really take a stance. There were three starts last season, and in that Thursday night game against the Denver Broncos he looked really good throwing a pair of touchdown passes, then followed it up with a stinker at Buffalo, though the Browns won. To me, Quinn is essentially a rookie. He doesn't make my top 25 for this week, but as time goes on, I could certainly see it happening in attractive matchups.
