Darn. Now I'm going to have to root against him!
I remember thinking that during a key keeper league draft back in January, when an unnamed someone who works at the Worldwide Leader chose Geovany Soto with the pick right before me. I wanted Soto on this team. He would have fit perfectly, the offensive catcher I'd never owned in that league, the lone one in this keeper draft, someone under the radar who would torture my colleagues for years. I couldn't wait. I'm ready to proudly, authoritatively announce his name, and then, without warning, an enemy snaps him up. Now he's got him, and I don't. I didn't know what to do. I had no catching. I still, really, have no catching. I have Michael Barrett, and to that I say, never again.
Of course, I'm not really rooting against Soto at all. On the contrary, I'm envious that I didn't get him. I rectified this issue in a few later drafts, selecting Soto just a bit earlier than I wanted to and ensuring his fine stats would be on my team, but it wasn't the same. I didn't get him on the team I wanted to. Now that he's off to a very good start, I have a feeling this one will haunt me for years. I know many of you understand the feeling, missing out on a player, and you know you can't get him. I tried. The other owner laughed.
