I had a conversation with a friend after we heard about the monumental, earth-shaking Kyle Lohse signing with St. Louis, and his reaction was that the move didn't matter, because the Cardinals won't score him any runs. This shocked me. I thought the move didn't matter because Lohse isn't very good.
The thing is, you can probably do worse than making Lohse the last pitcher on your fantasy staff in an NL-only league, but I wouldn't bother in a mixed format, unless it's about 16 teams. His career ERA is 4.82, and even last season when he was borderline ownable, his ERA with the Reds and Phillies was 4.62 and he won nine games, fanning 122 in 192 2/3 innings. He's better than Adam Eaton. Well, that's kind of faint praise. The Cards used to enjoy the pitching stylings of one Jeff Suppan, now they've got a similar guy. I say good for them!
