I was in for quite a surprise when I entered my first AL-only fantasy baseball draft of this season a few days ago. The numerous mixed league drafts of the past three months weren't all that tough. There's plenty of depth everywhere, even at the scarce positions like catcher and middle infield, and one can try any number of strategies and still escape with a solid, balanced team.
Well, this is not the case in an AL-only format. It's a weak crew. More than normal. You shouldn't mess up, or you'll be left praying that Boof Bonser wins 18 games and Freddie Bynum swipes 30. I'll take the under on both.
I've been saving this piece of feedback from a recent blog for more than a week, and now it seems appropriate to run it. So here are the words of someone who calls himself El Guapo. I doubt it was former Red Sox pitcher Rich Garces, but who really knows?
