It seemed to be one of those throwaway quotes that you don't know what to do with, if anything. Albert Pujols said it earlier this week, but it certainly hasn't gotten much attention. Fantasy owners, so conditioned by now to study depth charts and injuries rather than worry about who was and wasn't named with Roger Clemens in the Mitchell Report, probably didn't even notice it.
Alas, here is what was buried at the bottom of a story from earlier this week, with the headline on ESPN.com blaring "Pujols bans TV station that erred naming him in Mitchell report." I mean, why do we care if he bans a TV station? Did you even read it? Here are the final three paragraphs from the AP story, after the stuff that not only doesn't concern us, but pretty much anyone except for the TV station in question.
Pujols said he decided against offseason surgery on his right elbow, a trouble spot for several years, because he would have had to miss a significant portion if not all the 2008 season. Pujols still is unable to straighten his arm, but team doctors concluded that because he plays first base, an operation can be postponed.
