The last time Pierre Thomas had a really big game, I saw bits and pieces of it. It was August. I read all about this undrafted rookie for the Saints, and wrote about him a few times early in the season, wondering aloud if the Deuce McAllister season-ending injury would give him a shot.
Hey, we knew Reggie Bush wasn't going to be a No. 1 feature back, so there could be opportunity. Thomas finished up the final preseason game -- months ago -- with 128 total yards and a touchdown, and a week earlier scored two touchdowns. He made the team. What does that have to do with now?
That was essentially the tiebreaker for me when I picked him up and activated him in one of my championship matches at, oh, about 12:52 p.m. ET Sunday, or roughly eight minutes before roster lock and game time in Chicago. I thought the kid could play, and in my most important game of the season in that league, I sent him out there to win me a title.
