In the fantasy football playoffs, it's a lot more painful when one of your studs, or at least someone you're assuming will do well, doesn't get the job done. Of course, this happens all the time, and it's why the great regular-season fantasy teams that don't win complain the entire offseason about turning your head-to-head league into roto. You could win 16 of your 17 weeks this season, but still lose the title if this was your bad week. And I'm guessing there will be a lot of complaining after a bunch of sure things were anything but sure on Sunday.
For example, entering Week 14, if you had the group of players below, I would have figured you were well on your way to 100 points. In fact, our pals Hec and Vic had this fivesome projected for exactly that, a C-note. Instead, their grand total of fantasy points: nine. Unbelievable, but true. Fantasy football is seldom perfect. That's why we play the games.
Carson Palmer, QB, Bengals: Vince Young was a bigger bust, delivering a big, fat zero, but I didn't think he'd go off against the Chargers anyway. Palmer, on the other hand, was playing the Rams! How could he fail? Three fantasy points later, easily his worst of the season, Palmer really hurt fantasy owners. His receivers didn't do much, either.
