Imagine being in a fantasy baseball league and making it clear to everyone you have a need for a certain position, or statistic. A few teams reply to your requests, and one in particular has exactly the perfect fit for your team. You negotiate. You go back and forth. You consider the cost, what it will take to get the deal done and how much better your team will be when it's over, and then ...
... then another team swoops in and makes that deal.
In my opinion this just happened to the Los Angeles Angels, or whatever they're called. For more than a week we heard Miguel Cabrera was coming to Disneyland to fill the gaping holes at third base and in the middle of the popgun lineup. We debated what this meant for Vladimir Guerrero, and the pitchers, and the other AL West hurlers having to face this lineup. Howie Kendrick, Brandon Wood, Jeff Mathis and who knows what else were packing their bags for South Florida. Then the Detroit Tigers got involved and -- presto -- a different deal was done, one which also shakes things up in the American League.
