Kevin Durant is my favorite fantasy player right now. Not the best, but my fave. There it is, I said it.
Even when he struggled with his shot in his first game at Denver, I saw something. And then I saw more and more of it in the other two games as Durant finished his first pro week averaging 23 points, 6 rebounds, a steal, a block and a few threes per night. I think it's only going to get better, which of course is a good thing since I might have this guy on every one of my fantasy hoops teams.
Of course, that has nothing to do with my feelings on the guy. Normally I eschew rookies and let someone else deal with the inconsistency and uncertainty, but Durant wasn't an ordinary college player, he looked special in the preseason and his team is not very good at all, meaning he has opportunities. Add it up and you've got a nice fantasy option who currently is ranked No. 40 on our Player Rater. I say he ends up in the top-20. Pretty soon he'll be adding that shooting guard eligibility to go with being a small forward, and he'll be at 25 points a night, so good luck attempting to trade for him.
