I don't really play games when it comes to wide receivers. I won't go so far as to say they are an afterthought to me, but I never go into a fantasy football draft thinking about my wide receiver strategy, what round I'm going to take Terrell Owens or how far I'll let Eddie Kennison slip. I am, however, thinking about quarterbacks and running backs all the time. Wide receivers just end up on my teams, somehow, some way.
Of course, I'm aware of how important wide receivers can be, but how often does someone from that position decide a fantasy season? Peyton Manning decides seasons. Daunte Culpepper and Brett Favre have done so in the past. And at running back, LaDainian Tomlinson and Shaun Alexander have won people leagues, as well as Priest Holmes, Edgerrin James and a few players who called Denver home. As good as the top wide receivers can be, it's rare that someone says they won a championship because of Marvin Harrison, even as great as he's been this decade. He was there, he was a big part of it, but someone else always gets the credit, like Billy Volek, Kurt Warner, Mike Alstott or Nick Goings.
