On Thursday, the New York Knicks fired Larry Brown with four years and $40 million remaining on his contract. The Knicks are asking NBA commissioner David Stern to arbitrate, but assuming Brown refuses to take any settlement and does nothing to mitigate the situation from his side, the team could feasibly be paying the coach $50 million for the 79 games (only 23 of them wins) he coached this year. Yes, that's right. If the Knicks have to pay Brown $50 million for his 79 games, it will come out to $632,911 per game. The previous record on a per-game basis held by a player who played the entire season was Michael Jordan, who was paid $404,146 per game in his final season with the Bulls in 1998.
