Decisions, Relationships, Courtesy and News: I am not one of those old guys who pines for the way things used to be. I think the players now are generally better than ever. I like the longer shorts; I enjoy the "dunk shot" (as my high school coach used to call it); I like headbands and the theatric pregame introductions; and I don't think the music is too loud at Abercrombie and Fitch.
And I have no problem with a high school kid having and enjoying a news conference to announce where he is going to college. It is supposed to be fun, and these news conferences can be a good thing.
But some adults need to step in and supervise to make sure that the kids are doing the really important things the correct way. A case in point is the news conference of the No. 1 high school player in the nation,
Harrison Barnes.
