Ohio TE Smith headed to North Carolina

Via teleconference, tight end Alex Smith (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) has announced he has committed to North Carolina.

"I think the best fit for me, and me and my mom agree, is that it is going to be the University of North Carolina," Smith said. "I just think it's the right fit for me."

The 6-foot-5 and 225-pound Smith committed to Cincinnati during the winter, but opened the recruiting process back up and made an official visit to Wisconsin the weekend of Sept. 5 and one to North Carolina the weekend of Oct. 3.
