Two of the hottest teams in the Pac-10 picked up recent commitments.
Will Storey (Lake Oswego, Ore./Lake Oswego) committed to the Beavers late last week and
Jourdon Grandon (Westview, Ariz./Avondale) committed to Arizona following his official visit to Tucson over the weekend.
Storey was born to be a Beaver because both his parents attended Oregon State and his father and grandfather both played on the football team. Last Thursday, he got the offer over the phone and the decision was easy.
"I've always been a big fan of Oregon State and I've been going to games for a long time," said Storey. "I had some other schools looking at me, but I was definitely waiting on the offer from Oregon State and once I got it, I didn't waste any time jumping on it."
Storey is one of the most versatile players in the region and could play a number of positions in college, on either side of the ball.
"I've talked with the coaches, but they haven't really specified where they want me to start out at yet," Storey said. "I camped with them and worked out with the receivers and play quarterback (Lake Oswego), but they did mention playing a safety or outside linebacker role.
"I'm going to their game with Washington this weekend and I'll talk to them more about it then. Right now, I'm not worried about it, I'm just excited to be a Beaver and happy to have my decision behind me."
Grandon appeared to be leaning to Oregon State or Arizona State just a month or so ago, but the Cats had been making up a lot of ground in recent weeks. He took his official visit to Tucson to see the Cats dismantle Washington State over the weekend and committed on the trip.
"I was just really comfortable there," Grandon said. "I've enjoyed watching Arizona play this year and I was really starting to think that could be the place for me. The visit really sealed the deal for me and I like the idea of staying close to home as well. That was more of an added bonus for sure."
Like Storey, Grandon plays quarterback at the high school level but projects on the defensive side of the ball.
"I could play corner or safety, but it sounds like they want me to start out at corner and that's fine with me," Grandon said.
He took official visits to ASU, Oregon State and Colorado State and also held offers from San Diego State, Colorado, Washington, Boise State, New Mexico and New Mexico State.
