Lucky Radley (Woodland Hills, Calif./Taft) will head to ACC country this weekend for his first official visit.
Radley played at Agoura (Calif.) and just became eligible to play at Taft two weeks ago. He has made an immediate impact at both safety and running back and is one of the most versatile players in the entire West region.
"I'm going to North Carolina this weekend," Radley said. "This is my first official visit and I'm pretty hyped. I took a quick unofficial visit there in the summer, but it was real brief and I didn't get to see a lot of the campus and city.
"They're recruiting me as an athlete and will figure out whether I'll play offense or defense later. I'm flying the red eye after our game Friday and I can't wait to get there. This is the only visit I have set up right now, but I also want to visit South Carolina for sure. That's all I know for now."
Good news for Powell
Defensive end Ronald Powell (Moreno Valley, Calif./Rancho Verde) received big news earlier in the week on the academic front.
Powell is one of the nation's top prospects and ranked among the top five players in the country in the ESPNU 150. There were some academic questions about Powell earlier in the year, but he received great news this week.
"He got his SAT results back and scored a 900," RV coach Pete Duffy said. "He also has his core GPA up to a 2.9, so he's good to go. He was fired up and we called up some of the coaches recruiting Ronald and they were jacked too.
"He wanted to wait until he got his test results back before setting his trips, but he'll be setting his visit to Florida real soon and he'll also take a visit to USC as well. Those are really the only two he's looking at."
The Gators have been heavy leaders for some time now for Powell and that remains the case. In fact, it will be a pretty big surprise if the talented lineman ends up anywhere other than in Gainesville next fall.
