Redlands East Valley (Redlands, Calif.) defensive lineman Andrew Hudson took official visits to Washington, Arizona and Oregon State. One school stood out from the beginning. The talented pass-rusher pulled the trigger early Thursday morning.

"I committed to Washington," Hudson said. "Washington has always been my top school but I wanted to take my visits to be sure of my decision. I slept on it last night and then knew that I was ready to be a Dawg.

"Coach Martin was the one recruiting me but I really loved the entire coaching staff. That was the probably the deciding factor for me, the great staff there. Coach Holt and Coach Martin are both so intense and I like the direction the program is going in."

The opportunity to play early was another big selling point for Hudson.

"They want me to come in and be ready to compete for playing time right away," Hudson said. "That's exciting to me and I think I'm ready to do that. Arizona and Oregon State were great schools too but for me, Washington was just the best overall fit and I'm pumped to be a Dawg."

I had a chance to see Hudson in action earlier in the year when REV took on a talented Orange Lutheran (Calif.) team and he was the best player on the field. He's very quick off the ball, has strong hands and is a high motor player who just keeps coming.

He knocked the quarterback out of the game in the third quarter and was in the backfield all night despite constant double teams. He even moved inside at different times in the game and made plenty of plays. Hudson doesn't get mentioned as much as some of the other top players in the West, but he's a very intriguing DE prospect.
