Senior running back
Traylon Shead (Cayuga, Texas/Cayuga) began the season with a shot to break Sugar Land (Texas) runner Kenneth Hall's long-standing record of 11,232 yards in a season. However, a high ankle sprain and a cancelled game due to lightning have derailed his chance to break the record that has stood since 1953. Nonetheless, Texas commit is still racing up the charts.
On Friday, the 6-foot-2, 210-pounder rushed for 182 yards and two touchdowns moving into ninth place on the career-rushing list with 9,007 yards. Shead began the season with more than 35 names in front of him on the national career rushing record list, but is now only looking up at eight names.
