Here's what I think of the study of gambling: It is Talmudic. It requires a lifetime of examination to understand it just a little. And even then you'll be surprised by how much you don't know and how much there is left to learn. I can see why wise guys like it so much. The challenges are constant.
That's what I was thinking when I quizzed Vegas vet Ted Sevransky yesterday. We were talking about this week's big plays in the NFL and he mentioned a few things I had never considered about situational betting; coin-flip games affecting power rankings; and betting ahead of, but with, the public.
