A lot of concerns we have about Tim Tebow's ability to make a successful transition to playing quarterback in the NFL showed on the game film of Saturday's Mississippi State game.
The biggest knock on Tebow is he is a "system quarterback." In other words, the only reason he ranks as one of the top quarterbacks in the nation in passing efficiency is the scheme he plays in. There's a lot to back that theory up here. If it wasn't a screen, shuffle pass or roll out, Tebow consistently looked hesitant and held on to the ball for far too long. He still struggles with his decision-making.
Take a look at these examples:
Second-and-4, second quarter, ball on MSU's 26-yard line: Tebow tries to hit TE Aaron Hernandez on a wheel route down the right sideline and badly overthrows him. It's a good thing, too. The safety rotated over and would have been in perfect position to make the play.
First-and-goal, second quarter, ball on MSU's 7-yard line: Tebow rolls to his left and nothing's available. He makes the right decision by not forcing the ball into coverage, but why not throw the ball out of the back of the end zone and avoid taking another big hit?
