Achraf Yacoubou (Brookville, N.Y./Long Island Lutheran), who's No. 30 in the ESPNU Super 60, has selected Villanova, ESPN.com has learned. Yacoubou becomes the first recruit in the Class of 2011 for the Wildcats.
Yacoubou cannot sign his binding national letter-of-intent until November, 2010.
Despite attending Kentucky's Big Blue Madness last Friday at Rupp Arena, Yacoubou chose Villanova over Kentucky, Connecticut and Wake Forest. Yacoubou, the No. 11 shooting guard, averaged 21.6 points as a sophomore when L.I. Lutheran captured the 2009 New York State Federation Class B championship.
