Will Orton cash in?

Now that the Chicago's Jay Cutler has been locked up through 2013, the next quarterback in need of a contract is Denver's Kyle Orton, who went to the Broncos in exchange for Cutler.

Orton is a free agent after the season and has been performing at a high level in the team's 6-0 start. However, if there isn't a salary cap, Orton would end up being a restricted free agent. To qualify for free agency in an non-capped year, a player needs six years of experience. Orton entered the league in 2005.

Ailing Browns: The Browns had 10 players miss Wednesday's practice because of the flu, and coach Eric Mangini is being proactive in sending players home if they show signs of the flu. So far, no swine flu has been found in the locker room. For the Browns to get roster exemptions that would allow them to bring up players from the practice squad, they would have to have six proven cases of swine flu. Let's hope it doesn't get to that point.
