North Carolina is the latest program to jump in with a scholarship offer for Class of 2011 ESPNU150 Watch List defensive tackle
Kevin McReynolds (Washington, D.C./Saint John's College). The Tar Heels join Maryland, New Mexico and UTEP in offering the 6-foot-3, 274-pounder.
McReynolds said he contacted and spoke with UNC defensive line coach John Blake and Tar Heels director of player personnel Marcus Berry, who is from the D.C. area, on the phone when he received the offer.
"That's a solid offer," McReynolds said. "They have one of the best defensive line coaches in the country in John Blake and are a good program. (Blake) said I am very explosive and I play the line very well."
McReynolds is a prospect to watch as the 2011 cycle gets heated up. He's only 16 years old and claims a bench press max of 405 pounds. He also ran a solid 4.72 second shuttle at a spring combine.
