Thursday night's college football action features a pair of individual matchups we'll have out eye on, starting with an interior battle between West Virginia ROT
Selvish Capers and Colorado DE
Marquez Herrod.
Capers held his own physically against Auburn OLB Antonio Coleman, a projected third-round pick, earlier this season and was impressive with his footwork and pass sets in that game. However, one of the knocks against Capers is that he sometimes lacks toughness and has problems driving defenders off the ball and Marquez could give him problems in that area. Marquez is a 280-pound power end who could play tackle in a lot of schemes and we'll be watching to see if Capers can get a push against him in the running game.
Capers also had problems picking up blitzes and stunts against Auburn so expect the Buffaloes to throw a lot of games at him. Colorado likes to bring OLBs
Tyler Ahles and
B.J. Beatty off the edge and will often shoot the end inside and force the tackle to deal with the rushing linebacker, something Capers could struggle with. The Buffs also run a lot of stunts and twists with their ends and tackles and Capers must show he can handle those situations.
Capers gets a late-third/early-fourth round grade right now but could start improving his stock with a good performance against Marquez and the rest of the Colorado front seven.
