Nine reasons this NYY-BOS series is pivotal

The Hype Meter runs at the highest level whenever the Red Sox and Yankees play, a 10 on a scale of 10 even when it's just a three-game series in April, a time when the Real Impact Meter is at a two.

But now it's August and the two rivals are separated by 2½ games with about a third of the season remaining, and Boston and the Yankees will begin a four-game series today. The Real Impact Meter is running at an eight, and here are nine reasons why:
