Sizing up the 2009 summer leagues

Never has there been as much interest in the Major League Baseball first-year players' draft -- and that trend of intrigue is trickling down into the amateur levels of the game. College and prep baseball are gaining popularity in droves. With that has come a growth in summer baseball.

The Cape Cod League has been a favorite scouting spot for talent evaluators for years, as the competition level is fairly high.

The Cape isn't the only gathering of quality college or college-bound talent during the summer months, though.
