Teams start aligning themselves with prospects

As the draft nears, it becomes somewhat possible to start connecting players to certain clubs, as area scouts, scouting directors and cross-checkers gather to see their top targets for the final few times. Keith Law has learned that the Padres, owners of the No. 3 overall pick, are high on Cartersville High School (Ga.) CF Donavan Tate, USC SS Grant Green, Missouri RHP Kyle Gibson and Fort Worth Cats RHP Aaron Crow. I have heard that both Seattle at No. 2 and Pittsburgh at No. 4 prefer OF Dustin Ackley and RHPs Shelby Miller (Brownwood, Texas) and Jacob Turner (St. Louis/Westminster Christian Academy). The Mariners also have strong interest in St. Paul Saints RHP Tanner Scheppers, while Pittsburgh seems to prefer Crow.
