First, the rule is clear -- if a player excessively swings his elbows and makes contact with a defender in a legal guarding position, it is a flagrant foul and automatic ejection. If a player excessively swings his elbows and does not make contact with a defender in legal guarding position, it is a violation. If a player makes a full body move and makes contact with a defender in legal guarding position, it is a personal foul.
