Today's links come straight to you from the Loneliest Road in America
• We know that
Milton Bradley can hit. What we don't know? If he can stay even reasonably healthy while playing in the field almost every day. I'm skeptical, and
here's why.
• Josh Wilker writes about
a couple of Stooges.
• On the off-chance you're one of the unfortunate few who buy into the poor owners' lament about a salary cap,
this may set you straight.
•
Classic. Truly classic.
• It Is About the Money, Stupid's got
the best synopsis I've yet seen of the Romero/Mitre Affair.
• Every spring,
Felix Hernandez's age blows me away, and this spring will be no exception: he's just now turning 23. Is this the spring he becomes a superstar? Driveline Mechanics makes a running start toward
answering that question.
• There used to be a great blog called (I think) "Closer Watch," devoted solely to tracking which relievers at any particular moment were being trusted in save situations. "Closer Watch" died, but it looks like
this page might be a worthy successor (we won't know for sure until the end of April). All of which came to mind because we've got
official word on the next Padre closer (and the winner's no surprise, but I wonder if
Mike Adams was seriously considered).
Update: As a helpful reader points out, Mike Adams isn't a candidate to replace Trevor Hoffman because Mike Adams will miss a good chunk of the season after
shoulder surgery last October. I'm afraid I completely missed that bit of news.
