Why a 6-year deal for Manny makes no sense

STRIKE ONE -- SIX OF ONE, HALF-DOZEN OF THE OTHER DEPT.: This time of year, you can always rely on Scott Boras to provide massive comic entertainment. And he delivered his latest burst of over-the-top hilarity at the GM meetings this week, when he announced that Manny Ramirez deserves a six-year contract.

Why? Because Barry Bonds and Alex Rodriguez both got deals that carried them through age 42. And Manny is just like them, minus a Gold Glove here and maybe an occasional Madonna subplot there.

Boras' publishing wing already has rolled out a thick binder's worth of reasons that Manny is worth locking up through the year 2014. So apparently, it's up to Three Strikes to reintroduce a little sanity into this arena -- by presenting five reasons a six-year deal for Manny would be beyond ludicrous:
