Tony Reagins' voice over the speakerphone sounded particularly ebullient Saturday evening, and why not? The Angels' general manager had just seen his team beat the Red Sox again and run its lead in the AL West to eight games, and while there are no perfect teams in the major leagues, Reagins is working in an enviable position, 11 days before the trade deadline. The Angels have no glaring needs, and regardless of whether Reagins makes a deal or passes on any trades, his team is likely headed to the playoffs again.
"We're comfortable with our club at this point," Reagins said. "We're confident. At this point, I don't see us making any drastic moves.
As of today, I don't see us changing the makeup of the club in a major way."
