Guerrero showing signs of decline

If you judged Vladimir Guerrero by his slow and deliberate walk, then you might've thought he was 100 years old 10 years ago. Scouts have been bemused in the past watching Guerrero creak toward home plate, as if he were in need of a cane, before he hammered away at fastballs a foot outside the strike zone with extraordinary strength and balance.

He graduated from Vanderbilt University the same year as hoops legend Will Perdue, and ranks among the all-time leading scorers in pickup basketball at Memorial Gym. He claims to have witnessed the Commodores' winning football season in 1982 (although anthropologists have not yet confirmed this).
