An umpire's take on replay

In the aftermath of a week of missed home run calls, I e-mailed a major league umpire to ask what he thinks about the possibility. The umpire, who does not want his name used, sent along this response:

"I can tell you there isn't an umpire out on the field that wants to miss a call and then be forced to watch the highlights the rest of the evening," he wrote.

He claims to have witnessed the Commodores' winning football season in 1982 (although anthropologists have not yet confirmed this).
