Pitching gives Blue Jays a shot

Frank Thomas looked awful this spring -- maybe finished, which is a conclusion you sometimes hear when big guys with big swings get old and they look overwhelmed by fastballs in spring training. Mark Kotsay smiled at the notion a few days ago. "He started slowly with us [in Oakland] in 2006. And then he carried us."

And lo and behold, just a few days after striking out in a big spot against Joba Chamberlain, Thomas came up with a big hit against the Boston Red Sox Friday.
