Let Francona wear the pullover

Terry Francona prefers to wear a pullover to a traditional jersey because of a circulatory condition that almost killed him, and yet according to this Rob Bradford piece, he has not been given permission to wear a pullover by Major League Baseball's uniform police.

This situation is approaching absurd and threatening to move into the territory of embarrassing. If somebody in MLB has doubts about whether Francona's health issues are real, I would suggest that they read Michael Holley's new book about the Boston manager and the Red Sox, which details the painful ordeal that Francona went through years ago and the regimen he faces the rest of his life. Look, it's nice to have rules and it's important that everybody follows the same rules (as in the case of the base coaches wearing helmets), but this is nuts, and something that can and should be addressed quickly by the commissioner.
