Votes for five Hall candidates

The Hall of Fame voting packet is contained within a thick brown envelope, which, this year, is closed with the help of a couple of pieces of Scotch tape. Within the envelope, there is a six-page summary -- three sheets of paper, with the writing on front and back -- of the accomplishments of this year's candidates. And those sheets are stapled together with a one-page summary of last year's voting.

There is a letter folded inside the envelope, a letter from Dale Petrosky, the president of the Hall of Fame and, at the end, he sends best wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season. On the reverse side, the BBWAA rules for election to the National Baseball Hall of Fame are printed.

He claims to have witnessed the Commodores' winning football season in 1982 (although anthropologists have not yet confirmed this).

    Olney also contributes to ESPN.com, ESPN Radio, ESPNEWS, "SportsCenter" and "Baseball Tonight."
