Even though the injury to rookie sensation
Adrian Peterson (knee) is a major loss to the
Minnesota Vikings for this week, it still won't change the problems that this offense has. Minnesota still has no consistency at the quarterback position and a lack of playmakers at wide receiver. However, Peterson has easily been the Vikings' most-explosive player to this point, which is why the Vikings have the No. 1 ranked rushing team in the NFL. Plus he is the team's fourth-leading receiver with 15 receptions.

Head coach Brad Childress and offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell have one of the most conservative attacks in the NFL and a lot of it has revolved around the inexperience of QB
Tarvaris Jackson. Due to the injuries of Jackson this team has also experimented with journeyman
Kelly Holcomb and
Brooks Bollinger, which has contributed to holding this offense back when attacking all levels in the passing game. On top of that, this team lacks a true No. 1 receiver on the perimeter.
Bobby Wade, who is best-suited as a No. 3 receiver on any other team, leads this team in receptions with 26. Also the TE position, which is a key element in Childress' West Coast attack, has lacked in production.
