G.B. shouldn't pack in run game

There has been a lot made of Green Bay's inability to run the football and how it will affect their long term prospects, particularly in bad weather and throughout the playoffs against better competition. The Packers have the 32nd ranked rushing attack in the NFL, averaging 65.7 yards per game. Their offensive line has under performed with their zone-blocking scheme this season. Their running backs have continually been shuffled in and out and as a unit, are averaging a measly 3.3 yards per rush. It is to the point that the Packers have, more or less, decided that running the ball is futile, as evidenced by their league low 121 total carries, which ties them with Detroit for fewest rushing attempts.

The Packers have used the uninspiring quartet of
DeShawn Wynn,
Brandon Jackson,
Vernand Morency and
Ryan Grant to accumulate those terrible rushing numbers. Morency is probably the back with the most upside, but he has been unable to stay healthy and really hasn't proven very much throughout his short career. Jackson was a second-round pick and has done very little to inspire confidence as a runner or in pass protection, where he is often overwhelmed.
