You think we'll see Eric Gagne in a key situation tonight? I don't, and neither does Steve Buckley ...

The problem, alas, is that the guy they received in the deal from the Texas Rangers -- Eric Gagne -- can't get anybody out. Let's not quibble on this. The Red Sox took a shot at strengthening their bullpen, and it hasn't worked. Now it's time for the team to cut its losses and see to it that under no circumstances does Gagne throw a pitch in a key situation in what remains of the postseason.

As the Red Sox and Cleveland Indians were locked up in a classic showdown in Game 2 of the American League Championship Series last night and into this morning at Fenway Park, it was Gagne who emerged in the top of the 11th inning, the game tied 6-6.
