The Packers had 15 players miss all or portions of Wednesday's practice, making them perhaps the most injured team in the league. For the first two games, the Packers have carried the injured likes of running back Vernand Morency, wide receiver Greg Jennings, defensive end Mike Montgomery, safety Aaron Rouse and guard Tony Moll on the inactive list. All of those players continue to battle their injuries and are questionable for Sunday's home game against the Chargers. Things got worse in Week 2. Guard Tony Palmer suffered a cracked bone in his neck and could miss a good portion of the season. Tight end Bubba Franks (knee), cornerback Al Harris (back), defensive tackle Corey Williams (ankle) and cornerback Charles Woodson (hip) missed Wednesday's practice. Packers coach Mike McCarthy is going to need everything at his disposal against San Diego. This game could even be tougher if he can't get some guys back on the field.
Joey, you're not the solution: It's amazing to think that
Joey Harrington doesn't get it. He disagreed with coach
Bobby Petrino's review that he was playing too conservatively. Now on his third team, Harrington never seems to get the idea he's part of the problem. In Detroit, he had so many losses pinned on him, it was hard for his Lions teammates to follow him. The Dolphins were a mess last year and Harrington really didn't make things better. It was probably too much to think Harrington would turn around the Falcons after the
Michael Vick fiasco. But Joey, your offense is terrible. You're not scoring points and you're getting sacked at a
David Carr-like pace. Comments like his show you his days are numbered as the Falcons' starter. It only took two games for Harrington to convince the Falcons to give
Byron Leftwich a two-year, $7 million contract, technically more than Harrington's own two-year contract.
No safety valve for Jags: The Jaguars continue to pay the price for not re-signing safety
Deon Grant. They put
Gerald Sensabaugh on injured reserve and face the possibility of weakening the cornerback position to help out at safety. One of the options is moving cornerback
Brian Williams to safety. The simple solution is starting veteran Sammy Knight with rookie Reggie Nelson, but Jack Del Rio is exploring the Williams' option. Things keep getting worse.
