Dick Bremer: Interesting, talking to the Twins' manager before the game today, and I think more and more the Twins are entertaining the notion of having Punto as their regular second baseman next year. With more exposure to Alexi Casilla, and the growing sentiment that he simply needs more seasoning, Punto's outstanding defensive play at second base, and with the Twins at the start of next season, hoping to contend once again, you get the feeling that Punto has the inside track for the second base job next year.

Bert Blyleven: Well, I think the Twins organization is very happy [with Nick Punto at second base]. Now the average is down of course -- the strikeout right there -- but he has not taken his struggles at the plate out on the field with him. And I think that has impressed Ron Gardenhire and his coaching staff the most.
