The Seattle Mariners had snowouts and rainouts in April, and as a result they are finishing this season with a brutal schedule -- 44 games in the final 45 days of the regular season. E-mailed some players and talent evaluators to get their anonymous feedback on how this kind of schedule manifests itself.
First question: How hard is this kind of schedule to play through?
From a position player: "I think that the only thing that makes it hard during this time of the year are the doubleheaders. playing a single game is not that much of a problem. Days off are important no matter any time of the year, but I actually think that they are less important in the stretch run. I say that because you don't want to lose the momentum when things are going well. Take us last year, for example -- we were playing so well the last thing we wanted was a day off. In a September playoff hunt, you definitely get a second wind and you don't worry about being tired or sore. Those are the last things on your mind."
