The seventh sign for Gagne
August, 20, 2007
Considering Eric Gagné's struggles last week, you can imagine the sort of questions that Terry Francona has been getting, and if you read Gordon Edes' piece in the Boston Globe, you might get the idea that the questions are annoying Francona, just a little bit. Here's one of my favorite bits:
Francona saw no merit in Gagné switching roles with Hideki Okajima, giving the eighth inning back to Okajima and having Gagné work the seventh. "Do you think the seventh is not an important inning?" Francona said. "If a guy gives up four, and he gives them up in the seventh, what's the difference? It makes no sense to me."
