USC may appear to be taking a backseat to UCLA early in their recruiting battle, but the Trojans are continuing to build another solid class and will undoubtedly fight for a repeated national crown when it is all said and done in February. On Tuesday, USC received a commitment from its first quarterback of the 2008 class, ESPN 150 Watch List prospect Drew McAllister (Alamo, Calif./Monte Vista). McAllister is the eighth Watch List commitment for the 2004 National Champions. The 6-foot-2 signal caller is very polished as a passer and will also provide great athleticism to the Trojans roster as a pure football player. We feel he is one of the more fundamentally sound and well coached quarterbacks in the 2008 class. He is a prototypical pocket passer who possesses good arm strength and excellent overall physical tools. McAllister's blend of good footwork and deceptive speed buys him second chances when chased out of the pocket to create plays; that mobility and savvy play could slide him out from behind the center during his career.
