Nebraska finally lands big-time QB

Bill Callahan's Nebraska recruiting Class of 2005 made everyone take notice, but no single player in that class or the two subsequent classes may mean as much to Nebraska football as Class of '08 QB Blaine Gabbert (Ballwin, Mo./Parkview West) could.

In my opinion, elite quarterback prospects have eluded the Cornhusker staff in the last two classes, and Gabbert's commitment could not have come at a better time. While Sam Keller fell into their lap last fall after defecting from Arizona State, they lost QB Harrison Beck, who they felt was going to be the future, when he left school prior to the 2006 season and in turn left the Huskers with very little quality depth behind center.
