This week's mailbag begins with some coaching news:
From Danny in Chestnut Hill, Mass.: Is it my imagination or is it the worst possible time for BC to lose its offensive line coach?
Bruce Feldman: Actually, the worst possible time probably would be the night before the opening game. Jeff Jagodzinski did move quickly to get a good replacement, hiring Jack Bicknell Jr. to take over for Jim Turner, who resigned Monday. As Mark Blaudschun writes,
Bicknell has strong ties to BC, as an ex-Eagle center and the son of former coach Jack Bicknell.
He comes from Texas Tech, where he had been hired as the offensive line coach in January. Bicknell was fired by Louisiana Tech in December after eight seasons as head coach (1999-2006). Louisiana Tech went 3-10 last season and was 42-53 in Bicknell's tenure.
