Deciphering Darko

If you want to see why everyone is so conflicted about Darko Milicic, the first half of last night's Game 3 loss to Detroit offered a good example.

On the one hand, there was Darko scoring seven straight points, having his way with Detroit players on his all-too-rare post opportunities by using his left-handed hook. The seven-footer can shoot, run and block shots, and he's still only 21 years old.

The problem? His motor -- as symbolized by the scandalously lazy play he made at the end of the first half, which you can see here. The camera will focus on Tayshaun Prince and Chauncey Billups, but keep an eye on Darko. As soon as Orlando threw the ball in, he started trudging toward the locker room -- never thinking for a second that he might need to react if Detroit stole the ball. He should have been in Billups' face sending that last-second delivery into row 17, but instead he was 20 feet away and barely bothered to turn his head and watch.
