The reality of no Extra Innings

Washington Post sportswriter Howard Bryant spoke to NPR's Scott Simon last Saturday (there's no transcript, but you can listen here). It was fairly early in the morning and I was still in bed, but this exchange shocked me wide awake:
Simon: First of all, it's going to be harder than ever to watch games on television, isn't?
Bryant: It's going to be virtually impossible to watch games on television if you don't have a satellite dish, thanks to the DirecTV-Major League Baseball exclusivity deal...
