Spring QB story lines

This week's list is the spring's 10 most intriguing QB situations.

1: FSU: Since Mark Richt left Tallahassee, the Seminole offense has been a complete mess, especially in big games. Most Nole fans still cringe at the mention of Chris Rix's name, but in truth, it has only gotten worse since he left. Now, Jimbo Fisher comes over from LSU and replaces someone whose name I won't mention (out of respect to our FSU friends), and there is optimism again. Most people think that means another fresh start for Xavier Lee, who has struggled whenever he has gotten into action. FSU players always seemed to prefer Lee to incumbent Drew Weatherford, but neither has produced yet. I still think it's Weatherford's job to lose. A big key in all this will be how much new O-line coach Rick Trickett improves FSU's putrid line play.

2. Notre Dame: Will Jimmy Clausen actually get to throw much? Rumors about Clausen experiencing arm problems have swirled for the past four months and in yesterday's Chicago Sun-Times, there was a story quoting his father, which gives it some credence. Clausen's dad says his boy had been losing some velocity. It'd be so anti-climatic given he is the most hyped QB to ever enter college. If Clausen can't impress, Charlie Weis will lean on sophomore Evan Sharpley and redshirt freshmen Zach Frazer and Demetrius Jones.
