I typically leave the baseball commentary to the likes of Stark, Olney and Gammons, but I feel the need to point out a potentially overlooked factor in the New York Yankees' sixth successive playoff failing.
The Yankees announced a revolutionary marketing alliance back in February 2001
that made Manchester United their sister franchise. I happened to be in New York at the time for a Mavericks-Knicks game and attended the press conference, just a few months after the Yanks won their third World Series in a four-year span.
