After meltdowns, Serbs rebuild

NEW YORK -- Greetings from New York, half a world away from where Team USA is getting some R&R in Hong Kong prior to its trip to Seoul this weekend to play Lithuania and Korea in its last two exhibitions prior to the World Championship in Japan, which starts a week from Saturday with the Americans opening against Puerto Rico.

The best game of Day 1, however, figures to be Argentina-France, in which centers Fabricio Oberto and Frederic Weis will be on the court together for the first time since 1999 when the New York Knicks brought both of them in for workouts and Jeff Van Gundy sent them back to Europe dejected after concluding neither was NBA material.
